In my second year of study we learnt different textile techniques when creating images on fabrics. These techniques included tying fabric in rubber bands and pouring dye over them as well as dying fabrics in water and dye. We also used screens to manutex dye and screenprint through. I used a paint brush to paint the dye onto the screen creating different images such as the flowers and the space/ butterfly image as well as spraying dye from a spray bottle onto the screen. Then using a clear print paste that is pulled through the screen setting the dye into the fabric. When creating the panda print I used paper to cut out the image then tapped to the screen so that the only gap in the screen was the shape of the panda. Then using coloured print paste I pull that through the screen leaving me with an image of the panda. I then experimented more with layering by layering the bamboo over top.
